Nerf Vortex Nitron

One of the latest editions from the Nerf range, the release of the Vortex Nitron has been eagerly awaited by Nerf gun fans. With rapid fire discs and a range of features does it measure up to the high standards expected?

Well, first of all, the design is solid and easy to grip, with the main weight where the batteries have been placed, focused on the back grip handle. This allows increased control and a good level of balance.

It also features double trigger technology, so that with your middle finger you can start up the engine ready to fire and with your index finger you can shoot. This improves on some earlier models which need you to flip a switch and leave your motor running – not good, as it gives away your location and wears down your batteries quickly.

The magazine holds 20 discs, and if you wish you can purchase additional magazines and discs. The Nefr Vortex Nitron is fully fully automatic and will fire out discs at a rapid rate. When we tested this it fired a good distance, looking around the 40 – 50 foot range, which was outdoors, so taking into consideration the wind factor, you could probably get a few extra feet out of it. The main problem we noticed is a lack of accuracy, should there be even a slight breeze this is accentuated somewhat too. Even indoors it shoots a bit wide of the targets, which is annoying. however, as others have stated, it is consistently inaccurate, so you can cater for this by aiming slightly to the side, safe in the knowledge that that is where is going to go, hardly ideal but an option nonetheless.

Overall, we do recommend this gun, it’s great fun and my boy loved it, best for indoors use though or for days when the wind hasn’t graced us with its presence.

Lone Star Toy Cowboy Cap Gun

For all parents looking to select a cap gun for their kids then the Lone star Super Cowboy gun won’t disappoint.

Both highly durable and lots of fun, this toy gun makes a bang loud enough to please but not too loud as to annoy. As opposed to the paper caps used in many toy guns, this has a 12 ring, plastic cap reel, which is installed by flipping the mechanism down and simply placing the caps inside. Far easier than the paper caps, however, be careful with the mechanism as it may be too tight for younger kids and they may well need your supervision and assistance.

Made for metal with a plastic handle, this cowboy gun will not break easily and will give excellent value for money. The weight and design give a convincing look when compared to some of the other products on the market too.

The only downside is perhaps, that the 12 ring caps can be quickly used and you will need to order a good few to keep you going. Fortunately the caps are cheap and so won’t make too much of a dent in your bank balance. To buy the Lone Star Cowboy Gun simply click through the homepage to view all our products.

Choosing Toys For Kids

Things to consider when buying toys for children.

Are they age appropriate? Toys that have small parts are not suitable for children aged under 3. Toys aimed at older children might be too complicated or fiddly for younger children to play with.

Are they suitable for the child? Can they be played by one child? Buying a game that requires more than 1 player for an only child means they can only play when they have friends round or when their parents aren’t busy. Outdoor toys that require a garden are not useful for a child who lives in a flat unless they fold away to be stored within the home.

Will they be played with? A child who has a dislike of sports is unlikely to play with a football or a tennis racket. It shouldn’t exclude this sort of gift but it should be considered that without careful planning a toy can just sit in the corner.

Children often have favourite TV shows and these often have lots of toys relating to them so if you know their favourite program you can get a good idea of what to buy them!

If in doubt ask their parent for ideas! They’re bound to have a huge wish list with everything the child has been asking for on!

Legal BB Toy Gun

BB guns are often thought of as being somewhat dangerous; however, this is only true in the minority of cases, where the individual using the toy BB gun does not apply some common sense tactics. So, if you are considering buying a bb gun from the UK market then there are a few simple rules to ensure that you do all you can to keep safety at its highest level.

Firstly, toy guns, especially BB guns, can often look highly realistic and so never carry them in public places and never, under any circumstances point them at an individual (loaded or not). This can cause unwarranted stress and panic and is always a stupid move to make.

Don’t shoot at a target if you think someone may be close by, it’s not worth the risk.

Watch out for ricochets in confined areas, they can be a potential hazard if not accounted for. Only responsible adults should use BB guns and remember to use eye protection.

Finally, don’t shoot at animals, it’s not big or clever and just makes you a pathetic simpleton in need of weeding out of the gene pool.

Toy Guns and Violence

Throughout the years toy guns have been an increasingly popular toy for children with various TV shows, movies and cartoons providing ample advertisement to promote certain types of toy guns and lead them to become international bestsellers in the toy world. However, it should be noted that although widely seen as innocent and harmless fun in the past, a simple child’s game of cops and robbers or cowboys and Indians now stirs up a vast debate into the increasingly questionable moral values which such games instill in youngsters.

Violence in the Media

With the proliferation of gun violence and the magnitude of real life shootings increasing globally the ‘innocent fun’ has been brought under the microscope. Many argue that the use of army toys and toy guns as a play item can desensitize a child to the real world implications of gun usage and potentially lead to a higher risk of violence in later life. However, it is clear that this is not a simple debate and it can easily be argued that there is a much higher degree of influence wielded by the violence shown on TV and in computer games. Children will always have a propensity to play and as far back as recorded have mimicked the behavior of adults with all forms of toys from the likes of wooden playhouses to toy weapons, and so why now should this be brought under such scrutiny. The influence of TV, films and computer games showing graphic violence and gun usage to the point where, in the past emotions of shock and outrage would have been provoked which now does not even lead to so much as a batted eyelid, must be examined closely to determine what effect this has and evidence from various studies does conclude that the most detrimental effects to a child’s behavior is seen where little or no social communication is brought into play.

This is not to say that toy guns can be excused from blame for the increasing gun violence in today’s world as perhaps the ever more realistic function and look some of the guns and vast array of features included are leading to are leading to a greater increase in desensitization.

Education and Common Sense

Ultimately the choice to let a child play with toy guns is up to the parents or guardians. However, wider issues are at play in this discussion, and though numerous factors influence a child’s future behavior, possibly the most important side to this is that parents educate their children properly and supervise their play, alerting them to the dangers of guns. The damage is done not by the act of play itself but by the underlying connotations behind it. To stop the perpetuation of gun violence is clearly a mammoth task that needs to be tackled from the roots, which comes down to a common sense approach and proper education.
